This week we get to see newlyweds Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza Deshmukh in Bollywood Hindi movie ‘TERE NAAL LOVE HO GAYA’. This Hindi movie is a Romantic Comedy, directed by Mandeep Kumar and jointly being produced by Tips Industries and UTV Motion Pictures. The other cast includes Om Puri. Chitrashi Rawat and Navin Prabhakar are wasted. Veena Malik’s item number was a waste too. In fact her assets were more irritating than her item number.
The story is not unique and neither original. It’s the mixture of Bollywood Hindi movies like Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin and
Jab We Met. This Hindi film primarily works thanks to the convincing chemistry and performances by the lead pair.
The movie is set in Chandigarh. Riteish (Viren) is a rickshaw driver. At the crack of dawn, without fail, he takes his auto for his daily run. He has big dreams of starting a fleet taxi service of his own. Unfortunately for him, he tells this plan of his to Bhatti (Tinu Anand) who owns a fleet of autos one of which is rented out to Viren. One morning, when Viren goes for his usual round, he finds the autos missing and instead there are four Toyota Innovas. His idea has been robbed. All the autos have been sold. The idea being robbed is of no concern to Viren. What he is crestfallen about is the fact that his entire savings have gone with the auto. He had saved Rs 60,000 under the driver’s seat!
To escape an undesired wedlock, Mini (Genelia D’Souza) gets herself kidnapped by the hands of a rickshaw driver Viren (Riteish Deshmukh). The unassuming Viren turns victim of the situation and has no option but to carry forward with Mini’s plans. Until the duo actually gets kidnapped by some gangster.
Though the climax is breezy and fun, it’s the 20-odd minutes before it, where emotions and tears have been ladled out in generous doses that is irritating. It’s too much saccharine in a film which otherwise retains a frothy, smooth texture.
Music duo Sachin-Jigar’s songs fit well into the plot but are not memorable enough to stay in your heart long after you’ve watched the film. But overall this Bollywood Hindi romantic comedy doesn’t live up to the hype it created as being Riteish-Genelia’s first release together in seven years.
