A few days ago, the media was agog with news of Madhuri’s return to Mumbai in mid-October. Madhuri had tweeted about her excitement on her upcoming move to Mumbai. After nearly a decade in Denver, she is now moving to Mumbai with her family. Accordingly to her tweet, her husband Dr. Nene, a cardiovascular surgeon, is in talks with some major hospitals in India.
This is the story that has been given by her. But insiders say that her move has been prompted by marital discord. It is also rumored that the couple has had a falling out and have filed for divorce. But Madhuri herself has denied these reports saying that they are baseless and just rumors. All is well on the marital front and will remain so. Her tweet on 25th September, 2011 quashed these rumors saying,” Enjoying marital bliss. Tem Dixit-Nene on their way back to India!” The dhak dhak girl married Dr. Sriram Nene in 1999 and quit Bollywood at the peak of her career when she was the reigning queen. She is still much in demand and loved by the media, directors, producers and her fans alike.
True to her promise, she returned to Mumbai on 7th October, 2011 with her husband, Dr. Sriram Nene and her two sons. Her fans and the media were there to receive this family and gave them a warm welcome. Also, spotted were her parents, having a joyful reunion with their daughter, son-in-law and grandsons.
Born on 15th May, 1967 as Madhuri Shankar Dixit, this girl made her debut in Bollywood in 1984 with the movie Abodh. The film did not do well and Madhuri continued to appear in small roles. She shot to stardom with Tezaab, a blockbuster where she played the lead opposite Anil Kapoor and with this movie, she was given the nickname dhak dhak girl. Some of her hit movies include Ram Lakhan, Tridev and Parinda. Her performance in Dil earned her, her first Filmfare award. She received the second award for her performance of a woman, married to an illiterate man, and exposes her mother in law in Beta. In 1994, she gave the public the biggest blockbuster of her career, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun. This movie is still loved by all. After a series of flops, she returned as Paro in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas. This movie was after her marriage and was a hit with the masses. The film’s classic portrayal, its extravagant sets and popularity earned it a place in the Cannes Film Festival.
Though her comeback movie Aaja Nachle was not well received, her performance was well liked by the critics. Madhuri is not only known for her good acting skills and her radiant smile but also for her dance. Known as the dancing diva of Bollywood, her dances in Devdas, Tezaab, Hum Aapke hain kaun and many other movies, earned her the title of the “dhak dhak girl”.
With her return to Mumbai, it is hoped that there will be more movies in store for her fans. Here’s a warm welcome to Madhuri Dixit with the hope that all is well on the marital front. Welcome back, Madhuri.
