Deepika Padukone celebrates her 26th birthday today. Been tied up with shooting schedules, time for her to sit back and spend her day with her family and friends in her new dream house in South Mumbai. Born to father Prakash Padukone, who is a retired badminton player of international repute and her mother Ujala who is a travel agent. Dips also has a younger sister, Anisha. Former model, Deepika chose to become an actress and not pursue a career in sports. She reveals her birthday wish to have simple south Indian ghar ka khana.
Deepika Padukone made a successful Bollywood debut in 2007 with Farah Khan’s blockbuster “Om Shanti Om” opposite Shahrukh Khan. Prior to “Om Shanti Om”, Deepika had debuted in a Kannada film “Aishwarya”.
Even though she was not seen in many Bollywood films last year Deepika has been spotted at many award functions and parties. She featured in Prakash Jha’s reservation 
melodrama, “Aarakshan” starring alongside Amitabh Bachchan which didn’t make mark at the box office. Her last film of 2011, Desi Boyz was just average. This year 2012, she will be seen in Saif Ali Khan’s production, which is supposedly titled as “Cocktail”. She will also be seen opposite ex boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor in “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” which is directed by Ayan Mukherji. Looks like this year her kitty is full with big projects. She is paired opposite none other than south God Rajnikanth in the movie “Rana”.
At the fifth annual Kingfisher Fashion Awards she was awarded the title “Model of the Year”. Shortly afterward, she was chosen as one of the models for the Kingfisher Swimsuit Calendar for 2006. Padukone was also chosen as the brand ambassador of Kingfisher Airlines
