Pappu Can’t Dance Saala is all set to release this Friday i.e on 16th December, 2011. This film has been written and directed by Saurabh Shukla. Not only had Saurabh written the script of the film but has also penned few lyrics of the movie songs. The cast of the film includes Nasreerudin Shah, Sanjay Mishra, Rajat Kapoor, Neha Dhupia and Vinay Pathak. Sameer Nair and Ravindra Singh have produced this project. Malhar has given the music of the film. R Vision India Pvt. Ltd, A Married Point Films and Imagine Film Company are the banners under which this film will be released.
Pappu Can’t Dance Saalabelongs to a romantic comedy genre. It is a story of two people who belongs to different parts of the
nation. Vinay Pathak portrays the character of Vidyadhar Acharya who is basically from Banaras and comes from a Brahmin family. Vidyadhar shifts to the land of dreams – Mumbai. His ancient traditional values make his stay difficult in the city. He lacks professional attitude which is one of the pre-requisite a person should have in Mumbai.
The difference between the modern and traditional Indian societies makes him believe that the city dwellers are heartless. They don’t have emotions and feelings. He is a learned man and thinks whatever he does is right. He wants people to work on his terms and this is the thing which creates hurdle in his ways. He misses his home very much.
Neha Dhupia is playing the character of a chorus dancer who dances in Bollywood movies. Her character’s name is Mehak Malavde. She is enjoying her life in the fast paced city. She has learnt the secrets of surviving in such competitive metro city. She is noisy and flashy.
Luck by chance, Vidyadhar Acharya and Mehak Malvade are neighbors and somehow two of them get stuck in the same single flat. Here the story of these wonderful people begins.
Pappu can’t dance saala is indeed a special film for Neha Dhupia. This movie reminds her of her struggling days, the days when she was trying hard to make it big in the industry. Neha Dhupia had been the former Miss India. She started her career with a beauty pageant. Recently in an interview while promoting Pappu can’t Dance Saala, she admitted that she helped the models backstage with their shoes and accessories in the first fashion show she attended. Now each time she walks a ramp, the struggling period of her life strikes her mind.
She observed a lot of backup dancers for preparing the role of Mehak Malavde. She always used to recollect her struggling days when she used to see the passion, attitude and dedication of those back dancers. According to Neha, an actor struggles throughout his/her life. Initially, in trying to be one among the most recognized artists in the industry and then the artist struggles to maintain that position in the industry.
This is not the first film in which Neha and Vinay will be sharing screen space together. Earlier, they were seen together sharing screen space in Saurabh Shukla’s ‘Raat Gayi Baat gayi’.
