The much awaited DON 2 – The Chase Continues has finally hit the silver screen today i.e. on 23rd December, 2011. DON 2 belongs to the action thriller genre. Farhan made the first chapter of DON series with Shah Rukh Khan in the year 2006 and he also produced the movie along with his friend Ritesh Siddhwani. But this time Gauri Khan also has been added to the list of producers.
The film also stars Priyanka Chopra, Isha Koppikar, Arjun Rampal, Om Puri, Boman Irani and Kunal Kapoor along with Shah Rukh Khan. Also, you will witness Kareena Kapoor in a cameo that moves in flash back. The film has been released in both, 2D as well as 3D format. The film is also dubbed in Telugu and Tamil languages.
The Plot:
The action that was set in the first part has been carried out in Don 2. After conquering the underworld of Asia, DON now heads on European domination. This time he will have to tackle with all the European law enforcement agencies and also the existing mafias of Europe. This time the chase begins at Berlin. The Interpol is chasing Don vigorously. Don shakes hand with his former enemies in order to fulfill his dream of becoming the emperor of European underworld. Interpol, local mafias and law agencies have set danger at each and every move of Don.
It was anticipated that Don 2 will have a huge opening at the box office. According to the sources, the advance booking of Don 2 is three to four times more than Salman Khan’s blockbuster movie Bodyguard. The music of the film seems to be weak. The publicity of the music was also weak. But the movie was very well promoted by SRK.
According to the sources, the first part of the film is not much appreciated as compared to the second part. The first hour of the film is rather weak while the post interval part is more energetic. The movie rises to a higher-level post interval. The star power and brand value associated with the movie is attracting the audience to the cinema halls. The audience has appreciated the wisely crafted plot of the movie.
Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2 can be compared to Hollywood films in terms of action scenes. If you are looking out to watch this film in 3D format then it’s a total waste of money. Although the shattered glasses in action scenes will give you a Hollywood experience but the action that Shah Rukh does onscreen brings you back to Bollywood. The potential of SRK in action scenes seems to be weak. The Hollywood element from Mission Impossible, Die Hard and Ocean’s Eleven that has cleverly been blended by Farhan Akhtar adds strength to the movie.
The entire cast has done a great job in the movie. Shah Rukh Khan has tremendously portrayed the villainous character of Don. Hrithik Roshan’s cameo is indeed a surprise element of the film. Hardly anyone knew that even Hrithik is part of the film.
