Cast: Kunal Khemu, Rasika Duggal, Gajra Rao, Vijay Raaj, Ranvir Shorey, Aryan Prajapati.
Plot
Nandan, a lower middle class man one night comes across a suitcase full of money belonging to a politician. The film revolves around this suitcase and Nandan’s struggles to hide it from his wife and the goons, while spending the cash.
Story
Nandan Kumar (Khemu), working in a printing press is overworked and underpaid. A usual day in his life is getting taunted by his wife Lata (confident and in form Rasika Duggal) and his son Ayush (awesome Aryan Prajapati).
Nandan is looking forward to win the Kirodimal Employee of the Year Award which will get him 8000 Rs. But as luck plays, he comes across an abandoned suitcase near a public toilet which has 10 crore Rs in it.
The Suitcase belongs to MLA Patil (a terrific Gajraj Rao) and in order to retrieve the Suitcase, Patil involves gangster Bala Rathore (Vijay Raaj) and Inspector Kolte (Ranvir Shorey) along with some other henchmen.
The rest of the movie is a cat and mouse game between Patil, Bala, Kolte and Nandan and whether they get back the suitcase.
Positive
The biggest plus of the movie is its humor quotient which is refreshingly consistent and not loud. Storyline is simple but the scenes and dialogues are very good.
This is a rare comic film in recent times which has not even a single abusive or vulgar dialogue. Performances are good by almost the whole cast, with some standout performers
Negative
The movie has a local Mumbaiya language and dark feel which might limit a section of audience.
Performances
Special mention to Gajraj Rao, it is great to see another facet of him in the interestingly written character of manipulative and evil MLA Patil, after a few cute Babuji roles.
Aryan Prajapati as Nandan’s son Ayush is excellent in his limited scenes.
Kunal Khemu is excellent as usual with his impeccable comic timing. Rasika Duggal is flawless as Lata.
Rest of the cast (Vijay Raaj, Ranvir Shorey, Akash, Akash Dabhade etc) are good but have done similar roles before as well.
Standout Scenes/Dialogues
One of the scenes where Ayush says:
papa main jaanta hoon ghar me paise ka problem chal raha hai, but uski wajah se mera waterpark ka plan cancel mat karna.
All the scenes of MLA Patil manipulating / threatening Bala, Omar or Kolte.
Our Take
A rare dark comedy which is a must watch for its awesome performances, dialogues and sheer cuteness. A total family film with no embarrassing moments which is not so common these days. Can be enjoyed with family and will surely manage to maintain a consistent smile on your face. Now streaming on Disney Hotstar.
