Chashme Baddoor a rom-com classic hit of Sai Paranjpye’s 1981 film is remade by Director David Dhawan into an adult comedy with the same name. The remake of the film stars Ali Zafar as Sid (playing the role of Farooque Sheikh), Siddharth as Jai (playing the role of Late Ravi Baswani), Divyendu Sharma as Omi (playing the role of Rakesh Bedi) and Taapsee Pannu as Seema (playing the role of Deepti Naval) in the lead roles. The film also stars Rishi Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Anupam Kher, Lillete Dubey, Bharti Achrekar, Ayaz Khan and Varun Dhawan. The film is produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.
As far the story of the movie goes, it’s the same three boys chasing one beautiful girl, and the best one gets the heroine. The film carries same soul as original but with some changes. Saeed Jaffrey’s character of Lallan Miyan became immortal but in the remake who is going to play Lallan Miyan?
Music of David’s films has always been very entertaining and has garnered popularity, especially amongst the masses and youth. Sajid-Wajid have tried to keep the magic of 80’s in their songs. ‘Har Ek Friend Kamina Hota Hai’, a song that has already attracted attention because of its’ addictive rhythm and humorous hook line, ‘Har ek friend’ borrowed from the famous cell-phone ad jingle sung by the versatile Sonu Nigam. Next up, ‘Dhichkyaaon Doom Doom’, by Ali Zafar and Shreya Ghoshal, is a light ‘masti’ song between the two lead protagonists. There is ‘Early Morning’ sung by Ali Zafar which is a good hear. From one fun number to another, ‘Ishq Mohallah’ is sung by Mika Singh and Wajid.
Summing up, the film Chashme Baddoor is targeted at the masses and youth. We have to wait and watch for David’s film, which releases on 5th April, 2013. David Dhawan’s record as a filmmaker is enviable and thus the audiences have certain expectations from the film and we are hoping for a full paisa wasool.
Reports suggest that the original (1981) digitally restored film will also be released on the same date which I am sure will also gather lots of audience.
