Don is back again and Shah Rukh Khan is once again appearing as the wanted man in the sequel, ‘Don 2 – The Chase Continues’, a film by Farhan Akhtar. This action-oriented movie has many stills that seem to have been lifted from Die Hard but despite this, it promises to thrill and chill. Excel Entertainment, the banner that is producing the movie has the catch line – The King is back.
Shah Rukh makes his appearance as the sinister Don with the same stuttering laugh. This movie is a sequel of the 2006 movie Don that had the same stars. It was a remake of the earlier Don, which had Big B of Bollywood Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role. Shah Rukh Khan, the new Don, also played the role of Vijay as in the earlier Don and romanced Roma, played by Priyanka Chopra. Don of 2006 was also directed by Farhan Akhtar and the evergreen dialogue “Don ko pakadna mushkil he nahi, namumkin hai”…was retained. ‘Don 2 – The Chase Continues’ again has Boman Iraani as Vardaan and Priyanka Chopra as Roma. The surprise entrants in the sequel are Kunal Kapoor and Lara Dutta. It is also rumored that Hrithik Roshan has a cameo in the movie.
‘Don 2 – The Chase Continues’ has everything that is needed to make a movie a success , action and speed, special effects and thrills to keep you glued to your seat. It also has Shah Rukh Khan in a new avatar, looking really cool and bad. The bad boy image only serves to fuel the curiosity. The film has been shot all over the world and you get glimpses of Berlin, Germany, Switzerland and Malaysia.
The film’s original score and soundtrack has been composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, who composed the music for the first installment of the series, with lyrics penned by Javed Akhtar. The music kick starts with the retro, floor-scorching beats of Zara dil ko thaam lo. Aaj ki raat hangover still retains. Again Mujhko pehchanlo is strictly a reconstructed of original Main hoon don from Don. Overall the music is a hit.
Let’s hope ‘Don 2 – The Chase Continues’ does the same magic as earlier films. The film will be releasing in 2D and 3D formats. So don’t forget to catch the action in a theater near you on 23rd December, 2011.
